Where to Stay in Bilbao
During my weekend in Bilbao, I stayed at the Ercilla Bilbao | Marriott Autograph Collection, and I couldn’t recommend this hotel more highly! A beautiful space with great views from the room and the rooftop, great food, attentive staff and modern decor. It’s superbly located, close to the Indautxu metro station.

Casco Viejo
Bilbao’s Casco Viejo is the historic Old Town district where you can find beautiful Basque-style buildings and traditional pintxo bars. Plaza Nueva and Plaza Miguel de Unamuno are important squares in Casco Viejo, where locals gather to eat and drink. There is also a weekly market having place in Plaza Nueva.
Arriaga Theater
The Arriaga Theater is an important cultural landmark of Bilbao, hosting different performances and concerts.
Santiago de Bilbao Cathedral
Bilbao’s Cathedral is a Gothic 14th century cathedral in the heart of the city.
Santiago de Bilbao Cathedral, a Gothic masterpiece in the heart of the city, is a testament to Bilbao’s rich history and faith. Built in the 14th century, its stunning facade and serene interior offer visitors a glimpse into the city’s cultural heritage. The admission ticket is 6€ and includes entrance to the San Antón church. It can be purchased at the ticket office of any of those churches.
Mercado de la Ribera
Mercado de la Ribera, located along the banks of the Nervión River, is one of the largest covered markets in Europe and a vibrant hub of gastronomic delights in Bilbao. There you can find fresh seafood, meats, and other local products.
San Antón church
San Antón Church is a 15th-century church distictive for its Gothic architecture and bell tower. Right next to it you will find San Antón’s Bridge, with amazing views to the river surrounded by colorful houses.
Etxebarria Park
Etxebarria Park was once an industrial site, now converted into a serene green space with amazing views to the city.
Guggenheim Museum
The Guggenheim Museum is an architectural marvel, renowned for its avant-garde design and impressive collection of modern and contemporary art. Designed by architect Frank Gehry, its distinctive titanium-clad exterior reflects the surrounding landscape, while the interior houses masterpieces by artists such as Jeff Koons, Andy Warhol, and Yayoi Kusama. On the outside, you will find famous artistic works like “Puppy” and “Mother”.

Federico Moyua Plaza
Federico Moyua Plaza, named after Bilbao’s esteemed mayor, is a bustling square with elegant architecture and charming cafes.
Fine Arts Museum
The Fine Arts Museum in Bilbao houses an impressive collection spanning from the Middle Ages to contemporary art, featuring works by renowned artists like El Greco and Picasso.

Casilda Iturrizar Park
Casilda Iturrizar Park is the local’s go-to outdoor leisurely spot.
Euskalduna Palace

Zubizuri Bridge means “white bridge” and it was, designed by architect Santiago Calatrava. Its sleek white curves and futuristic design make it an iconic landmark over the Nervión river.
Artxanda viewpoint
Artxanda viewpoint, atop Mount Artxanda, offers panoramic views of Bilbao. Accessible by funicular or car, it provides a stunning vantage point to admire the city’s landmarks.
