Recently, at the end of February, I embarked on a nature-filled escape to soak up the beauty of Portugal’s Alentejo region. One of the highlights of the trip? Staying at Reserva Alecrim, a stunning eco-retreat that seamlessly blends luxury with sustainability. If you’re looking for a place to disconnect, recharge, and immerse yourself in nature, keep reading!
About Reserva Alecrim
Reserva Alecrim is all about peace, comfort, and a deep connection with nature. With a variety of accommodations, from eco-suites and dome glamping tents to charming small houses, every stay is designed to complement the surrounding landscape beautifully. From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming, providing us with all the information we needed to make the most of our stay.
The Accommodations
We stayed in a Lake House (Casa do Lago), and it was the perfect balance of comfort, tranquility, and breathtaking views. With two cozy bedrooms, a well-equipped bathroom, and an open-concept living area with a kitchenette, it had everything we needed for a relaxing retreat. The real star? Our private deck overlooking the lake – the perfect spot for breakfast or a serene sunset moment.
If lake houses aren’t your style, there are eco-suites, dome glamping tents, and other modern accommodations, all designed to offer comfort while remaining harmoniously in tune with nature. Staying here feels more like becoming part of the landscape rather than just visiting.
Activities & Wellness at Reserva Alecrim
One of the standout features of Reserva Alecrim is its gorgeous swimming spots. You’ll find:
An infinity pool with jaw-dropping views, especially at sunset
A natural biological pool, perfect for a refreshing dip
Several lakes where you can swim or use the provided Stand Up Paddleboards
A climatized Dome Pool, ideal for unwinding after a day of adventures
For those who love exploring, there are scenic hiking and biking trails throughout the property. Every evening, we went on a sunset hike and were treated to spectacular countryside views – a must-do! Also, don’t miss the chance to admire the starry sky at night, it is incredibly clear!
Breakfast & Dining
One of my favorite things about Reserva Alecrim? Breakfast is delivered in a basket, so you can enjoy it anywhere on the property! Setting up a morning meal on our deck while soaking up the sunshine was an absolute dream.
For dinner, we visited Tenda da Reserva, the on-site restaurant, where we enjoyed an incredible meal. The chef’s special of the day was beyond delicious!
Exploring Nearby Attractions
Beyond the resort, there’s plenty to discover:
Santiago do Cacém (a short drive away) offers charming historic streets, a medieval castle, and the fascinating Mirobriga Roman ruins.
Vila do Gin, a paradise for gin lovers, provides tastings, workshops, and an insight into the distillation process – all in a stylish, laid-back setting. If you love animals, you’ll adore the friendly farm animals on the property, which you can feed (naturally, this was one of my favorite parts!).
And if you’re craving the ocean, the stunning Costa Vicentina coastline is within easy reach, offering dramatic cliffs, golden beaches, and some of Portugal’s best surfing spots.
Final Thoughts: A Relaxing, Eco-Friendly Getaway
Staying at Reserva Alecrim was the ultimate reset. With its perfect blend of comfort, nature, and sustainability, this retreat truly knows how to help you unwind. Whether you’re traveling solo, with a partner, or as a family, there’s something for everyone here.
I left feeling refreshed and already dreaming about my next visit. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape where you can switch off, reconnect with nature, and indulge in a bit of luxury, this is it.

The Lake Houses are around 150€ a night, acommodating 4 people. I would definitely return, I love to be around nature and this was the perfect place to reconnect!
Wow! This resort sounds incredible. How much did it cost per night? Would you return?
