I had seen photos of the famous library fa\u00e7ade, sure, but I hadn\u2019t realized how big the site was, how much detail is still there, or how much walking it actually involves. If you\u2019re coming from <\/span><b>Izmir<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Ku\u015fadas\u0131<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, or passing through on a group tour, it\u2019s a fairly easy stop to plan.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re doing it independently:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>From Izmir<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: You can take a regional train (Izban) to Sel\u00e7uk, which takes about 1.5 hours.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>From Ku\u015fadas\u0131<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Ephesus is around 30 minutes by minibus or taxi. Opening Hours<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-411742f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"411742f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The site itself has <\/span>two entrances:<\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Upper Gate (Magnesia Gate)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is usually where tours begin, since it allows you to walk downhill through the site.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Lower Gate (Harbour Gate)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is closer to Sel\u00e7uk and has more facilities like shops and caf\u00e9s nearby.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you&#8217;re visiting with a guide or on a group tour (like I was), they\u2019ll usually drop you off at the upper gate and pick you up at the lower gate, which saves you from having to backtrack.<\/span><\/p><p><b>Ticket Info<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (as of last time I checked):<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ephesus archaeological site + Experience Museum (inside the site, near the lower gate): <\/span><b>40\u20ac<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Terrace Houses:<b> 15\u20ac<\/b><\/li><\/ul><p><b>Opening hours<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Ephesus site<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">April\u2013October: 08:00\u201319:00<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">November\u2013March: 08:30\u201317:00<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Ephesus Experience Museum<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: 08:00\u201319:00 daily (entries every 10 minutes, visit lasts ~25 minutes, going through different rooms)<\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The last entry is typically one hour before closing. There are also night visits in summer from 19:00 to 23:00 through the lower gate.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There\u2019s <\/span>no re-entry<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> once you leave the archaeological area, and there are not many options for food and drinks inside, so come prepared.
