Staying At Ville Sull’Arno, Florence – Hotel Review
In Florence, the Ville Sull’Arno hotel is perfectly located on the banks of the Arno river, offering a unique view and the tranquillity I needed for this stay.
The History
In the 15th century, this space was the residence of the Alighieri family. Then, in the 19th century, it was transformed into Macchiaioli’s art workshop. It was later renovated to become a hotel, while retaining the charm of Florence’s Renaissance past.
The Location
Ville Sull’Arno‘s location allows you to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Nevertheless, getting to the center won’t be a problem: you can take a cab or a bus, or take advantage of the services provided free of charge by the hotel: bicycles or a shuttle with fixed schedule to and from the center.
Checking-in
The excellent service expected of a 5-star hotel was evident at all times, from arrival to departure. Check-in was quick and we were given all the information we needed to make the most of our stay.
The Rooms
The property has 45 rooms and suites divided into 3 categories/areas: Villa, Loggia, and Villino Spa. We stayed in a Deluxe Villino Spa room, which stands out for its shower with an in-built steam room in the center of the room. In addition, the decor is impeccable and modern with a Renaissence flair. It has all the toiletries you could need, a mini-bar, and a balcony with a river view.
Dining
We had an incredible experience of innovative Florentine cuisine at the hotel’s restaurant, “Flora & Fauno“, run by Chef Kevin Mazzolin. We dined on the outdoor terrace by the pool, which made the evening even more enjoyable.
It was on this same terrace that we enjoyed a delicious and varied buffet breakfast the next day, with the staff’s constant and personalized service being a highlight. In addition to the outdoor terrace, there is also an indoor dining room. That space is shared with a leisure area and an English-style bar overlooking the pool, where you can enjoy a drink whenever you like.
The Spa
Finally, I have to mention my favorite part of the hotel: the “Il Secretto de la Villa” Spa. Here, I was able to enjoy the 30ºC heated pool with water jets, the biosauna and the Turkish bath. The spa has changing rooms equipped with showers, lockers, towels and slippers, so you won’t be short of anything, and a small fitness area.
I can tell you that my stay was nothing short of extraordinary, and I fully recommend the Ville Sull’Arno to anyone looking for a refined and peaceful stay in Florence.
